a spell of perfect weather

Hello Friends! I had all these plans to write a long blog post about my favorite autumn rituals today, but it was too nice to stay inside. When my friend Nancy called me and invited me out to her home for the day, I just had to say “YES!” We went for a lovely walk, peeled about 200 apples and got them ready to make our favorite applesauce,…and maybe some of THIS…and for SURE some of THIS… we enjoyed homemade chicken noodle soup and salad on her beautiful screened in porch, visited her chickens, had a great conversation, and watched the first episode of THIS. (which was completely awesome, and will be just the distraction I need while I wait for my favorite, Downton Abbey, to return in January.) ...

cancan tea cake

Jeff had a meeting in the cities today so Gracie and I were on our own. We did a bit of baking, I made some homemade salad dressing and crocheted while we started watching THIS series on Netflix. Cancan tea cake can be made by baking any cake batter in a 28 oz. can. Just be sure not to overfill…two thirds is a good place to start. Depending on how much your cake rises you could really end up with a mess in your oven if you overfill the can. So pretty! Today my friend Nancy and I got together and went on a little thrifting adventure downtown Red Wing. I was so happy with my finds! I have a whole stash of previous thrift store scores that I discovered while on a late night thrifting outing with the hubby. I also purchased some things from my friend Clare before she put them in her garage sale.  I’m itching to post pictures of these treasures!…but, all in good time. Anyhoo, today after...

Current Crush-LOST

I just finished season 5 of the television show LOST on DVD last night and immediately decided to start watching season 6 online because I couldn’t stand the suspense! The show is absolutely fantastic. If you’re looking for a little ‘island getaway’ while the snow is still melting outside, this will be the perfect distraction. Full of action, suspense, romance and lots of picturesque scenes of Hawaii’s island of Oahu. Synopsis- After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including the intense howls of a mysterious creature stalking the jungle, as well as a polar bear,...
